Chapter Philanthropy and Service
Zeta Tau Alpha's philanthropy is Breast Cancer Education and Awareness, a cause that is near and dear to so many of our sisters. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Our philanthropic goal is to help to raise money and awareness to help in the fight against this statistic.
Theta Sigma chapter actively supports our national philanthropy. You can find us passing out pink ribbons (a collector's item for every ZTA), selling chocolate covered strawberries, and pie-ing sisters for our cause during the common time. We also hold larger events each semester to gather the Winthrop community for support in the fight against breast cancer.
Our biggest philanthropy event is our Fall Pinktober Fest. Sisters arrived early the morning of the festival to help set up and prepare to serve candy, drinks, and help operate games. We create a fun environment where anyone and everyone can join in and learn more about our goals and philanthropy. Our sisters also banded together to create two raffle baskets to help raise even more money. This event is one of our favorite ways to not only get involved in Winthrop University, but also to get to know our fellow students and the families of ZTA. Another philanthropy event we love to host is the Spring Muzic Bingo event. Friends, family, and more can join in on the musical fun as we play many hit songs, oldies but goodies, and any genre of music you can think of and play bingo for prizes. This is another fun-filled event that helps us not only spread awareness about Breast Cancer, but also get involved in and outside our community.
Big events help to raise money, but our most important goal is to spread the word about Breast Cancer risks, statistics, and preventative care. Philanthropy is about bonding over a common cause and as Zeta Tau Alpha's we are bound together by sisterhood and our passionate fight against breast cancer.
